Psychiatric AI scribe · built by a PMHNP

The psychiatric AI scribe that actually understands medication management.

MSE, polypharmacy, SI/HI, E&M leveling — structured correctly in the first draft. Built for psychiatrists and PMHNPs, not adapted from a general scribe.

Medication management

Dosages that stay exactly what you said.

General scribes turn Lamictal 200 mg into 20 mg and Seroquel 25 mg into 250 mg. Psynopsis reconciles every medication against the previous plan and flags a mismatch before you sign.

  • Reconciliation with previous plan and titration history
  • Formulation and PRN awareness (XR vs IR, qHS vs qAM)
  • Dose-mismatch flags against the previous note

Mental status exam

The MSE, auto-populated — edit only what’s abnormal.

Appearance, behavior, speech, mood, affect, thought process, thought content, cognition, insight, judgment. Captured from the encounter in the nomenclature you’d use, in the order you’d write it.

  • Normal findings pre-filled; abnormal findings highlighted
  • SI/HI with passive vs active, plan, intent, means, protective factors
  • Consistent format across every provider in a practice

Post-session dictation

Don’t want to record the patient? Don’t.

Dictate a two-minute summary after the patient leaves. Psynopsis structures it into a complete, diagnosis-organized note — MSE, medications, A&P, follow-up — with no session recording at all.

  • Ambient recording or dictation, your choice per visit
  • Diagnosis-organized assessment and plan
  • Nothing stored: audio is processed and discarded

Where it fits

Not a general scribe. Not a whole new EHR.

Psynopsis is a psychiatric scribe that works inside the system you already have.

From early-access providers

What psychiatric providers say

“The AI actually understands psychiatric terminology. When I mention 'affect was congruent with stated mood,' it doesn't try to change it. It gets the nuances of MSE and treatment plans.”
Board-certified psychiatrist Private practice
“I've tried three other AI scribes and they all hallucinated medication dosages or flattened my SI/HI assessments. This is the first one that documents polypharmacy correctly.”
Adult psychiatrist Telehealth practice
“As a PMHNP in a busy group practice, accurate documentation is crucial. Psynopsis helps me maintain quality while keeping up with my patient panel. The post-session dictation mode is a game changer.”
PMHNP-BC Group practice
“Finally, a tool built by someone who understands what we actually need. The templates are spot-on for psychiatric evaluations and the 42 CFR Part 2 compliance was a deciding factor.”
Addiction psychiatrist Outpatient clinic
“The AI actually understands psychiatric terminology. Unlike generic scribes, it gets the nuances of mental status exams and treatment plans. I was skeptical, but this is the first tool that documents the way I actually think about my patients.”

Questions prescribers ask first

Is audio recorded or stored?
No. Audio is processed in real time for transcription and immediately discarded. Nothing is stored on our servers, backed up or used to train models. If you use post-session dictation, the session itself is never recorded; only your short summary is processed, and that audio is discarded the same way.
Does Psynopsis work with my EHR?
Yes. Psynopsis runs beside any EHR as a web app or Chrome extension, so there is nothing to install on the EHR side. Finished notes copy into your system as structured text, and the Chrome extension keeps Psynopsis open alongside browser-based EHRs such as Athena, DrChrono and CharmHealth. Direct integrations are in development; contact us if you would like to be notified when your EHR is supported.
How is Psynopsis different from Freed or Heidi?
Freed and Heidi are general medical scribes designed to cover many specialties. Psynopsis is built exclusively for prescribing psychiatric clinicians by a practicing PMHNP: it reconciles psychiatric medications instead of just transcribing them, auto-populates the mental status exam in standard nomenclature, structures SI/HI (passive vs active, plan, intent, means, protective factors), organizes the assessment and plan by diagnosis, handles 42 CFR Part 2 records and offers a post-session dictation mode that records nothing from the session.
Is there a BAA?
Yes. A Business Associate Agreement is included with every paid plan, and we will email a copy for review before you subscribe. Enterprise customers can use a custom BAA. 42 CFR Part 2 handling is built in for substance use disorder records.
What happens if the AI makes a clinical error?
Every note is a draft that requires your review. You must verify all medication names, dosages, clinical assessments and treatment plans before finalizing any note. Psynopsis is a documentation assistance tool; all clinical responsibility remains with the licensed provider. We recommend reviewing each section before signing, particularly medication entries and risk assessments.
How long does setup take?
Creating an account takes a couple of minutes: sign up, verify your NPI and pick your templates. NPI verification typically completes within 24 hours, and most providers are documenting real visits within 30 minutes of getting in. Expect a brief adaptation period of one to two weeks before you see the full time savings. Enterprise customers receive dedicated onboarding assistance.
